Purdue IU is a big game.

NU Illinois is just like any other big ten game.

I have been to IU Purdue games, they are intense.

Michigan and OSU have HUGE fan bases that are all over the country, and even the globe. two of the thirteen largest states, population wise, with two of the most storied college football programs. To say it's over-hyped is an ignorant statement.

I agree with the instate argument in principle but at the same point, it's tremendously flawed. This isn't the 1800s. How many people don't cross state lines routinely?

The Clemson-USC rivalry is as passionate and heated as any (if not moreso) but that's not solely because it is an instate rivalry. Hell Clemson is about 45 minutes from the Georgia state line and a little over an hour from UGA but it's over two hours from USC. USC is just a little closer to Clemson than Clemson is to Auburn.
