For the second straight year, the top Big 12 team lost in its title game.

USC would have probably looked at lot better against a less physical team like Washington from the PAC12 North.

Meanwhile, I think most would agree Michigan and UGA are happy to be playing Purdue and LSU today instead of Ohio State and Tennessee.

So what’s the benefit to dropping divisions?

It is weird for TCU to have a better record against the same conference schedule, but Kansas State is the conference champion.

It most cases it does. There may be a case where a team needs another good win to get in the playoff.

True

If the B10 didn't have divisions, OSU is potentially eliminated today

I think they’re gonna have to drop conference champ games since there’s potentially 2 extra games in the 12 team playoff for the 5-12 seeds.

Unless used as a tiebreaker, the whole thing is pretty stupid. If Purdue wins this game, no one is gonna consider them Big 10 champs at 8-4
