It's pretty incredible how much they aren't prepared to deal with their money. Get a modest home in a good neighborhood, 2 vehicles, and help your parents out..... if you want.

Even allowing for that, 78% is still a huge number which means there's a major problem in the pipeline somewhere.

Again 99% of these players probably aren't multi-millionaires & there is a reason their names aren't run down because we would not have a clue as to who they are. That's a headline grabbing stat.

Bankrupt does not mean penniless as I suspect it's filed to protect certain assets. I would trade being a 'bankrupt' Warren Sapp than any of the Sociologist/Financial advisers on this board.

Fairly educated men like Thomas Jefferson filed for bankruptcy(as well as Lincoln, Grant & other Presidents) SEVERAL times ,but he refused to part with his precious slaves.

1)Bankrupt does not mean penniless.

2) Those numbers are headline grabbers .Especially for those ALWAYS ready to pounce on perceived 'negative' news about pro athletes. I doubt if we recognize 98% of the names on the list.

How is it that you are always on the wrong side of the fence on every issue that you post.

Stop. I said stop making excuses for their behavior. They are not victims. Many of us have started from humble beginning. However, we are not all doomed to remain in poverty. It is about making good decisions all the time.

And yes, I am a 1%er that came from nothing.
