That people picking the best 4 teams in their opinion is not the way

Meh.
Notre Dame finished #5 in the CFP's final poll and likely would have been in the semifinals in a four-team playoff because there's no way Texas gets a do-over after losing to Georgia twice. Ohio State finished #6 in the final CFP poll and most people would have been fine with a 6-8 team playoff.
It's also not beyond the realm of possibility that Ohio State gets a mulligan considering the Top 4 teams at the end of the season (per the CFP Poll) were Oregon, Georgia, Texas, and Penn State. The Nittany Lions likely get bumped out considering they lost to both Ohio State and Oregon. Texas has already been mentioned. So in a hypothetical four-team playoff in 2024, the contenders would have most likely been:
#1 Oregon vs. #4 Ohio State
#2 Georgia vs. #3 Notre Dame

Or it just arbitrarily assigns meaning to some games over others.
I don’t think Ohio State loses to Michigan in a 4 team system anyways. They were piddling around all year because they knew they could afford to under this system.

Or you could say that their getting to sit out any conference championship was a pretty big benefit. UGA losing the starting QB in the SECCG was pretty rough for example

The results of a tournament don’t “prove” anything. Crowns a champ. That’s it.

Notre Dame was #3 in the BCS and Ohio St was #6.
Ohio St didn't deserve to be in the playoff based on the regular season if we're talking old system and no one would complain about them getting left out.

Oregon is the AP National Champ, proved it during the regular season, only undefeated and beat the eventual TV ratings shite blowout games Playoff fiasco champions....
That is, if you still want the CFB season to still mean something? Do you?
