I get burned picking against Westgate but I can't seem to stop. I know they are 8-0 all time on the road in the playoffs. I know that every year they make an incredible run in the playoffs, yet this is the week the run comes to an end. I think Dutchtown is suspect on defense, productive on offense. I know that Westgate plays tremendous defense and has a suspect offense. I think this matchup hinges on Dutchtown being more effective against the Westgate defense than Westgate will be against the Ducthtown defense. So my heart says pick the Tigers, but my head (being up my arse as always) says the Griffins win this week.

Westgate to the semis!!!! Thanks Supa!

West Monroe at Westgate

I will pick WM because I think they will win. I will pick WM because I keep doubting Westgate and they keep proving me wrong. I will pick WM because they are the higher seed. I will pick WM because they are the better team. Mostly I will pick WM because I want to see an All Acadiana 5A final and Westgate wins in the playoffs just to spite me. So Wess Funrowe Webels it is. GEAUX WESTGATE TIGERS!

Acadiana at STM

On the radio, on the message boards, around town.......I keep hearing all of this talk about moving the game to Cajun Field so more people can see the game. I keep hearing all of this talk about STM winning in week 4 was a fluke and Acadiana beat themselves. I keep hearing all of this talk about Acadiana wanting revenge on STM and the LHSAA for their troubles. I keep hearing all of this talk about poor poor Acadiana having to go play the big rich private school kids. What I don't hear is anyone from STM saying a thing in any of those mediums. This STM team just shows up, executes their game plan and goes home with the Win. I see no reason why Acadiana can stop that from happening this Friday and so I say STM wins because they are due to finally win a Semi-final game and get to the Dome.

Who in the hell said a 25 point win was a fluke? And what is the big deal about moving the game to Cajun Field? The fans will get to sit down and enjoy the game instead of watching it behind 6 rows of people standing infront of you. STM makes enough money, they don't need to be greedy. And STM plays on turf, so it wouldnt really benefit acadiana at all. I think the only valid thing you ranted on was Acadiana wanting revenge and fans want it at cajun field. Everything else makes it sound like your just A) Hearing voices in your head B) Listening to Mr. Bitter

I picked STM to win btw, they do have the better of the two teams IMHO.

like it or not as long as he continues to broadcast the Rams football games he is an ambassador of the school

the fluke was said to be Acadiana's veer getting shut down in the second half and the weird blocked punt that was initially awarded to Acadiana and then given to STM.

STM earned the right to play at their stadium. Ted Davidson said on the radio that given the same choice he would play at home too. All that matters to the STM football team is winning the game, why should they care about casual fans? The STM fans that go to the games every week will have their seats.

So playing the game at home makes STM greedy? How do you figure that?

STM AD Kim Broussard said they expect 8,000 fans at the game Friday night. So let's be conservative and say the game at Cajun Field would get an extra 4,000 fans. 12,000 people in a 33,000 seat venue would be terrible.

i don't know how much cajun field would affect the bottom line, but 4k more of tickets and concessions is big in HS football...

unless they had renovations stm visitor side is a joke...last time neville was there tiger fans had to go in the woods and find a tree... no bathrooms also the visitor team had to meet behind the endzone because of no dressing rooms

Not bigger than staying at home and giving yourself a better chance to win

In 20 yrs they will still talk about the winner of the game. In 20 days no one will care about how much money each school and the LHSAA made Friday night. So what is more important?

went 25-5 over 30 games

WM will beat Acadiana in the Dome. Acadiana is capable of playing well enough to beat WM but:

I think they are too turnover prone

I think they are too one dimensional

I think there will be a huge emotional let down after the way they man handled STM in the semis

This WM team treats the Dome like it is their second home

Thank STM AD Kim Broussard for the dumbest quote in the history of Lousiana high school sports "If you move to a bigger venue, people will not be lined up at 3 p.m. waiting to buy their tickets.
"When you have a mad rush like that, and you see the line of people waiting to get in, that brought a lot of excitement."

Acadiana can turn the ball over like it's going out of style. This will be the thing that really hurts them. All of the other reasons you mentioned are laughable.

One dimensional-They may run the ball alot, but they didn't have to throw the ball all season. I saw in the first half of the STM game that Acadiana can and did throw the ball. In the second half, up 17-0, i would run run run, play conservative and hold on to the ball considering STM's MO is taking advantage of turnovers. And thats exactly what they did. Acadiana threw the ball twice on the first drive against STM, only to fumble it away at the 10 yard line.

Emotional letdown- any other game i would say yes to an emotional letdown, but not in the state championship game against a team that is 3-1 against Acadiana in the playoffs and not to mention the defending state champs. No way.

Home away from home- can you name me another team in 5-A that has been to the finals 4 times in the past 6 years besides West Monroe? I'll give you a hint: It starts with an "A" and ends with an "A"!

Expecting a great game this saturday!

Geaux Rams!

Thats over now. I was at the game and for the amount of people there it was done right. I was able to nab great seats and still had to stand up the entire game and would do it all over again, great fan support i must say. IDK if it would have been the same at cajun field. The fans were about as vocal and as spirited as any high school game i've ever been to.
