Have not heard anything from central other than Bass turned it down. There’s some really good coaches in this area, assistants as well. Central should be an extremely lucrative job, barring it doesn’t get too political. I’d like to know how much the Mcclures will still be involved and if that is driving coaches away.

A good coach at a fairly prominent school in the BR area was let go yesterday I was told and I would think be a candidate for one of the openings discussed in this thread

Fun Fact: Both Jamie and Justin are in the EA Hall of Fame. Class of 2010.

What happened to Zachary baseball?
They 3peated in 4A with ZVR from 2007-2009 and then I think made the 5A finals in 2013.

They seemed to fall off as the football and then basketball programs took off for Zachary.

You answered your own question with the last paragraph. The demographic in Zachary supports football and basketball, not baseball. I think it was either 18 or 19 the baseball team was #1 in the country. Whichever year Milazzo graduated. Since then, it’s been deprived of talent. I didn’t make any games this year, I usually make a handful, but I was told this was the least talented Zachary team in quite some time. From what I understand, there is no help on the way.

That only leaves two schools. Dunham or Parkview.

Played with Cap @ UL; dude is epitome of hard work. Team him up with a Jordy Templet and watch the wins roll in.

Never happened - those teams weren’t even the best team in 5A those years.

Just looked. It was the 2018 team who was 34-2 entering the quarters with central. Zachary was the #1 seed. So yes, it did happen.

Edit to add a link to the maxpreps website where they finished 10th in the country. They got up to #1 that year.

Also, the 19 team was the 4 seed. So wrong on both accounts.

It was a year or two before Milazzo graduated that they were that good. They were definitely void of talent this year. They might struggle again next year but they do have a good group in the 7/8 that are talented.

Episcopal also but I can't see them letting Bourgeois go without it being on his own terms or just to focus on football.

Absolutely the worst source for any credible rankings

Perfect Game had them as high as 4 - never #1.

Being ranked #1 in the country is extremely difficult. Usually involves playing a national schedule and winning a championship recently. Closest Zachary has come was the semis in 2016

Lol at arguing the credibility of a national high school baseball poll. All those polls are a political showing of what coach knows who. You think PG has boots on the ground over maxpreps? Catholic has paraded their maxpreps title, and rightfully so, they should be extremely proud. Sorry I had them #1 and not #4. You also said they weren’t a top 5A team in the state either year. At minimum they were top 8, and you can argue the best team doesn’t always win. But I will not hijack the thread.

Apparently Central had Freshman tryouts without a coach. Who made decisions on players?

I mean why even play the game then. The whole point of playing the game is to determine who the best team is and they have never been the top team in 5A.

More than maxpreps.

Yay for them
