Nice recap as always. I also hear that CHS 8th grade might turn into a one man show - will that be enough to win some games?

Also, - What about St. Alphonsus? I hear they had a really good 7th grade team last season. Not in your top 8. Typically the associated press likes to reward strong finishes from the season before with lofty rankings - not the CSAL rankings??

[quote]St. George – This time is stacked to the point of getting comparisons the great late 90’s St. George teams[/quote

They never beat STM in the late 90's or at least before '96....(No one did!)

Thanks Soda. He is good enough for them to compete with most teams. I think they are a borderline elite 8 team at this point. He will get his points. It really depends on the supporting cast. They supposedly have some raw talent that needs to develop fast.

Another good question. Alphonsus lost 4 of their 5 starters. One is CHS's stud, and the others went to Central Middle. This will be a frustrating year for them.

In 97 St. George went 82-0
In 98 St. George went 73-3

That's the time when St. George took over from STM as the #1 program.

I don't think there is such a thing as a legendary junior high coach.

In the CSAL there is. They are more like Self Proclaimed Legends though than actual.

Alot of Ego in the CSAL coaching ranks and there always has been.

Tell that to the St. George coaches multiple Elite 8 trophies. The legend has about 5 or 6 of them.

If he is a legend he would be coaching high school by now.

Wrong. High School Coaches are paid to do it and do it for a living. CSAL Coaches are Volunteers, who dont get paid, and do it for fun because they love it. Big Difference. Why would they want to coach High School if they are just doing it for fun on the side?

Actually I think that depends on the school. I'm not talking big bucks but some 8th grade coaches get a little hand out from the church collection.
