The DC mayor wants it to become an annual event

I am sure Trump would be cool with that.

Just got home....wife and I were down there by 830 this morning.

We got seats in the grandstand and by 930am...about all seats were full. But 11am, they started you could only get into the grandstand if someone left the area.

The Stars area where I was at was packed. The whole mall was busy. People were lined again 5 - 10 deep on the fence.

The whole pre-race stuff was great. I live in the DC area and this was the most I have ever seen at an event. From the military bands to the flyovers, it was non stop. Lots of USA USA USA chants.

As for the fans, lots of Palou gear and at least near me some Pat O'Ward fans. Not sure how most Indy crowds are, but with the lottery it was probably 50% white, 20% african american, 10% asian, 10% hispanic, and quite a few Indians

As for the race, really enjoyed it, and will definetly make an Indy 500 now. WIfe is now a fan.

Glad y’all had a good time.

I had only mild interest in IndyCar until I went to a race. After seeing it in person, I was all in.

For context, on an average Saturday Metro will see 328k entries at rail stations, and 230k on a Sunday.

Michael Mulvihill
@mulvihill79

According to Nielsen, 44% of the audience for this weekend’s race from Washington had not watched *any* IndyCar this year prior to Sunday. Great vehicle for introducing potential new fans to IndyCar.
