Jesuit's Centola (attack/midfield) now has 6 G + 2 A on the game.

Jesuit wins the 2021 LHSLL State Title.
Perfect record & never let an opponent score in double digits.

Thanks for clarifying, and I didn’t mean to leave him out of the discussion……it’s just that I’ve known JR for so long.

STM freshman team went undefeated this year. These next few years should produce some great contests.

Congrats to Jesuit and Catholic HS today.

They did. That said, their better freshmen played up on Varsity & down on freshman games this year. So, they really got 1.5-2 seasons worth of games in 1 season. It will be very interesting to see how that serves those players over the next few years as they most certainly will play full summer tournament schedules & at least 50% of them play football for STM too. If their bodies can hold up = recipe for some on field successes (in both lacrosse AND football).

Players can sign up for $500 & fundraise the rest, just like most major school football teams are doing now.

You have to pay to play high school football? Don’t have kids and am well out of school

depends on the athletic program & their desire to "Keep up with the Jones".

You think those multiple uniform, helmets, meals, banquets, & charter buses all come from the parish/county funds? that's all mandatory fundraising & in many cases = dues + fundraising.

How many 2021 players in LA are heading to college programs next year?

Good question for forever lsu30. He would know. I can tell you in 2019, LA put out about 8 players to NCAA D2 and D3 programs, not counting guys going to club programs. No idea what happened in the COVID 2020 year or this year.

This year will be much lower than the 2019 & even the significantly smaller 2020 grad classes.

Last I saw, I believe of the approximately 10 players that committed to play NCAA out of LA have all returned to the state save for 1 St. Paul's player still at Lander (SC) & 1 Airline HS player who is at Huntingdon (AL).

There's a few LA guys heading to play D3 in Hendrix & maybe 1 or 2 D2 guys. I'll need to do a little research to see the latest list. A small handful are staying in state to attend Centenary (LA's only NCAA team).

Most everyone else is playing club at LSU, ULL, SLU, or La Tech. Tulane pulls in a respectable young roster year after year but they always disappear come Spring season due to Tulane's Spring Rush for Greek Life. I saw that Nichols St. is trying to make a comeback as an active team.

Why would the LHSLL award the D1 players as All State but then the D2 players as All Stars? That can't be an accident.

Probably because D1 is a higher level of play... they’re not trying to be like the LHSAA where you have the same number of players as all-state in class C as you do in 5A

A kid doesn't deserve to be spit in their face because they don't play in the D1 level. Dimishining a lower playing level kid's efforts isn't exactly in line with the mission of US Lacrosse & the sport in general. Real lacrosse people would understand.

I talked to a couple coaches when I saw this yesterday. Apparently the D2 coaches got together to put the D2 all star team together because there wasn't really any directive from the LHSLL to have any post-season awards for D2. So, the coaches took it upon themselves to get the kids the recognition they deserve.

I'm glad they did it. I coached 2 of the players that earned a nod each. That always feel good to see former players achieve something at whatever level they're at.

You have to do all you can to encourage growth for new teams to join the fold. When kids & their parents can see that efforts will be rewarded, more people will want to sign up. Certainly won't happen in droves, but it'll help add a team here & there. Which is better than 0 growth.

Yezzir. It's our youth growth mini session. We got rained out week 1 so we backed up the 4 week start to this passed Thursday.
We had 10 brand new kids show up with the rest being returning kids. Hoping for at least half more next week considering this was the last week of school & Memorial Day Weekend.

Are y'all trying to start a rec league or is this to grow your travel numbers?

Big push on a rec league is my primary goal. Growing local participation numbers will only lead to the travel option for those that can/are interested. Which then, over time, will lead to greater HS participation growth + new teams.

USA Lacrosse has really been working hard to encourage youth growth by way of the Flex6 approach to get more kids introduced & playing for a affordably as possible. I intend to utilize their guidance + resources + grants & let it lead to what it will in our area.

How many do you think you need or can get for a rec league to get going?

Conservatively & most realistically:

For a rec league under Flex6 I need to find 36-40 kids pee age group. Call it 14U, 12, & 10U that's 120 kids.
In the non-contact Flex 6, that's 9-10 kids per team with 6 on the field & 3 on the bench for regular rotating subs. That comes to 4 teams per age playing with sticks only @ 1 game per week. Rotating schedule of say 2-3 games per opponent + a end of season seeded/ranked tourney for the trophy.

For a full padded 10v10 rec league we'd need at least 15 kids per team for at least 4 teams. Call that 60 kids per age group. But that's not likely coming until 2 or more likely 3 rounds of a non-contact seasons.
On top of that, I have to come up with some grants or sponsors to build up sets of equipment for those kids to get them started & worst case they put down a deposit for the cost of it. At $200/kid I can pad them up, even a few sets of goalie gear. All in, call it $25,000 to be safe for jerseys + balls + a few goals/nets, game refs, etc. to get it all going for kids who can pay registration for their part & the rest for kids who need a little help with some room to grow.

Anyone need a tax donation write off for their company? Hit me up: (TD name) @ gmail
