They are 500 mile races as endurance was once part of the equation. Now, they hardly ever blow up so they just ride around to the end.
The stages are meant to change that mentality but I don't care for them.

It used to be but I don't think it really is now.
Daytona actually used to be a bit of a handling track before the plates and big downforce. They couldn't just hold it flat all the way around. Now they can, so the racing is shite.
