Did they already take Allie off the mound? shite he's only been in the minors for like 2 years!

Twitter went crazy at midnight ET last night with news that Allie will be converted to a position player full time.

Like I said, for a guy with top of the rotation stuff and who's only been pitching for three or so years, I don't agree with the move. I guess his command hadn't got any better down in Extend Spring Training.

Supposedly his bat is full of power, so maybe they salvage something there.

Wow thats wild. He has just become one very very expensive bat to bet on. Hope it all works out. BA had him as the number 9 prospect in the org this past off season

when is Joey Gallo aka Joey Callo going?

Latest mock has him going #11 to Oakland.

With his power potential I doubt he makes it past the late teens/early twenties.

No shot he's at LSU in the Fall.

23. CARDINALS. Like Toronto, St. Louis has two first-round picks and three supplemental first-rounders, so it can move a lot of money around and grab a big-ticket player such as Giolito, Russell, McCullers or Seager. The Cardinals also could steal Stroman here and go big in the sandwich round.
Projected Pick: MARCUS STROMAN.

24. RED SOX. Boston would love a shot at Davis and Cecchini, though Toronto probably prevents that from happening. Stroman would have no business lasting this long, but if it happens the bullpen-needy Red Sox would have no business passing him up. Louisiana high school outfielder/catcher Stryker Trahan could factor in here.
Projected Pick: MARCUS STROMAN.

3. MARINERS. Florida catcher Mike Zunino would be a nice fit for Seattle, as he has the leadership skills to run their up-and-coming pitching staff and the power to hit in the middle of a lineup. He'd also allow Jesus Montero give up the pipe dream of becoming a big league catcher and focus on hitting. The Mariners would love Buxton here, but that's not happening. If they look elsewhere, they're more likely to cut a deal with Oklahoma State lefthander Andrew Heaney than to take Correa, whose strong individual workouts for clubs in the last week have created buzz throughout the industry.
Projected Pick: MIKE ZUNINO.

This sounds like a bunch of BS. Or at least I hope so, I'm not trying to break anything later today.

Correa > Buxton

Can't go wrong with either.

Just hope they don't go 1 + 2, and you should be ecstatic

I like buxton more than I like appel

Nah man.

After watching the Astros operate with 4 1/2 starters for the past month and a half, I want a college pitcher that will ascend the ranks quickly.

If they draft Buxton, we're 4 years away from seeing him in an Astros uniform.

Luhnow is not big on rushing guys up to the bigs.

I'm with you on Correa>Buxton at this point, just scared the Mariners will pass on him. Nobody can ever get a read on what Jack Z will do in the draft.

What's it matter if Buxton is four years away?

Astros aren't competiting for anything in the next couple years and are in rebuild mode.

That would be a stupid reason to take Appel over Buxton, and I would hope that's not the Astros line of thinking.

Astros can't really go wrong IMO. You've got the upside pick in Buxton, or the safe college arm in Appel. I'd go Buxton but they apparently want someone who will be quick to the majors and Appel will be cheaper at number 1 than Buxton would, right? They can essentially allocate that money to their comp pick and other picks.

That's not my entire line of thinking. I'm trying to think about our future rotation.

Wandy Will be gone, JA Happ probably won't be around...

And then we'll have:

Bud
Harrell
Weiland
Lyles
Cosart

Appel has the ability to be better than the middle 3 of that rotation.

Plus you'd have a Triple A rotation of solid pitchers to pull from in injury situations:

Harrell/Weiland/Lyles
Foltneywicz
Oberholtzer

Anyone who an ESPN insider, can you tell me who KLaw has going to the Pirates in his latest mock?

He says "special update for Pirates" on Twitter, but I can't see what it is...
