Was the STM ref working that game? That shot shouldnt have counted. He wasnt close to getting it off in time

No he wasn't I'm sorry to break your heart but there was FOUR high school officials there and they all said it was good.

I don't care if there was a thousand high school officials there. I am watching the video, and the ball isn't close to being released

Having said that, if I was a ref, I would have counted the basket because it's 8 grade basketball and who gives a shite. It's cooler to count it

I was there. There was 00:00,6 (point 6) seconds left.
Even the St. Jude tourney director was overheard saying “that shot should not have counted”
I know Liam and congratulated him - it’s not his fault the 3 tourney staff (time keepers) on the stage watched the play & paid no attention to the clock.
The video shows no clock - and if you freeze frame the video - the ball is still barely in his hand when the buzzer sounds.
However, if you are a knowledgeable basketball fan - you know the clock hits 00:00 before the buzzer sounds.
These boards don’t have lights on the back board like NBA. So - the clock hit 00:00 before he let the ball fly
Tremendous shot. One in a million. SJV was upset as they controlled the game. Coaching decisions during the one - and - one could’ve been better (time out, double the rebound, make the shot and force a long pass - catch & shoot while doubling the inbound passer)
I’m glad Liam has his 15 minutes

St. Thomas More plays St. Jean Vianney in a rematch of the now famous last second shot, tonight. The other first round games and semifinals are Saturday Afternoon.
The consolation, third place, and championship games are on Sunday. All games are played at Catholic High School.

Juan, you don't know what you are talking about concerning the three time keepers. The person that was running the clock was the AD for St. Jude. He started the clock as soon as he thought the ball was touched. The one doing the book has no control over when the clock starts. The four referees all said it was a great shot. THERE IS NO REPLAY in 8th Grade. It was the judgement of all 4 refs that it counted.

STM defeated SJV 29-27 in overtime last night to advance to the semifinals of the Elite 8. They will take on the winner of OLOM and MBS/St. George White.

Still losing sleep over this St George split squad thing this year. They were always the evil empire of CSAA, and they are not the same villain without being a top ranked team.

Huge day of middle school basketball as the Elite 8 comes to an end.

The tournament has been a basketball fan's dream so far. Tons of close games and exciting finishes. Hopefully today's Championship Day keeps it going.
