I'm having trouble finding a 5-10 year price forecast, by year, for West Texas Intermediate, from a reputable source. $/bbl. Any ideas? Thanks.

You're looking for price forecasts for 5-10 years from today or price forecasts from 5-10 years ago to reference where we are today?

CME Group

This should be directionally correct. The futures on WTI are pretty flat at $50-52.

This makes me think these are real prices in today's dollars, inflation not included. Thoughts?

These aren't forecasts on where the price will be at those periods of time. Those are buying prices right now on futures contracts for oil at that time. Those will fluctuate in price just like Jan19 future prices will fluctuate today.

I'm not sure you will find any steady projections 5-10 years out for oil prices. You'll have some that say oversupply will take over and prices will be in the 20s and you'll have some that'll say there isn't enough spare capacity and reserves to keep up with demand so prices will be in the 300s. Everyone is playing a guessing game.

Any forecast that far out will just be 50-60 bucks. It would just be guessing.

Yeah, they’re market forecasts of future prices. Every o&g company uses the futures strip to evaluate properties, plan, model.

Futures (linked above) are good for contract delivery. For spot prices many operators have price decks where they forecast future oil prices (different than futures), running the projects encomic sensativies using different prices during the project analysis to properly weigh the risk. Lot of operators have gurus looking at world supply, reserves, demand, political and civil unrest, weather etc, but at the end of the day the market decides.
