PHI has $500M in bonds coming due this Friday, will they find a way to cover?

The stock is at $20 dollars a share. I'd say no they will not be going bankrupt.

That $20 PHI is Philipine Long Distance Telephone.

PHI helicopters is PHIIK (common stock) and PHII (voting stock).

I was talking about the helicopter company since they are based out of Lafayette.

It's dire. I know they were hoping for a white knight or for someone to purchase their air medical division, but I don't see that happening the week of.

Do you know what is killing them? surely they would have shifted with oil activity?

They have a ton of helicopter assets that they couldn't liquidate for cash. Fracking killed the Gulf. Their air medical division can't stay profitable. Their foray into international ops has been mixed. They had a lot of challenges they couldn't overcome.

Their short ratio is around 5.25. Generally, a short ratio above 5 indicates that a positive catalyst could trigger an epic short squeeze.

Say they secure some new line of credit this montn....PHII could pop nicely.

Thoughts?

If they get rescued they certainly could have a nice pop. However, I'm of the opinion that if they were going to be saved, it would have happened by now. What are their legal options besides bankruptcy?

Seems like Ch. 11 and a debt restructure is imminent.
Same goes for Bristow too. They are worse off it seems.
I wouldn’t say I smell a merger but it could save both companies if they streamline. The GOM helo market is saturated.

Not sure about their stock and bankruptcy situation, but I know this. A group of 4 year olds could run the day to day operations better then arse hats they have there now.

PHI and Bristow would never merger if it were up to them. Too much bad blood. They've been competeting for contracts for decades.

Chapter 11...just like you predicted. I wasn’t sure if they would work out better terms on their debt and extend it. Sounds like the bond holders are playing hardball.

Yes. Should be an interesting day to see if bankruptcy was already baked-in to the stock price.
