I have money invested in a broad range of equity funds. I had been thinking of putting the money into cash until things get settled politiclaly and with Covid. The market is up bigly today with news of a vaccine.

Is it time to pull out for awhile?

That's exactly what I'm thinking

My OP may have been unclear. As I mentioned, I have been thinking of pulling out for awhile. My unease ddn't begin with the rise of the market today. We all knew it would go up with the vaccine news. My larger concern is the political climate, especially after Biden get in office. Im thinking about getting out until after the inauguration

When to get back in is as difficult to pin down as when to get out.

I hear you

My thinking is that now with the news of the vaccine, the market may have hit its apex for now. I think there's lot of potential downward movement because of Biden's economic plans. I'm thinking of getting out and waiting to see how things move after January 20

So why would you get back in immediately after the inauguration? The effect of his economic plan won’t be known/seen until 2022 or maybe even ‘23. I wouldn’t bail out until at least the Senate majority is known but even then I want to see what actually gets put into law.

To answer your question; long term I do not feel good about stocks, bonds or cash right now. Given the debt, deficit and printing money like crazy I don’t see how we avoid significant inflation in the next few years. Add in Biden’s unknown policies and we may be looking at Jimmy Carter part 2.

I will be talking to a financial advisor we use; maybe she can talk me off the ledge. Or at least explain what everyone else sees that I am missing.

That's exactly how I'm feeling

I had to check the date on this post because this same issue has been debated here for the past eight months. Many people said they were getting out along the way until things settle down. When things appear to be settled, that is when the market will be at its high point.
