Thanks.

They need to raise minimum wage. That will kick start their economy.

China has been cooking their financial books for a long time. They are building and building and building to keep up appearances in places where there is no demand. There are entire cities, designed to accommodate millions of people, sitting empty because there is no demand for them. China's growth has been an unsustainable farce. As that slowly becomes more evident, the house of cards the Paper Tiger has built is becoming more evident.

The only thing that has kept them afloat is that no where else is seen as safe. The whole world economy is skating on rotten ice, perched on a precipice of chaos.

It is very scary to me. I'm thinking about adding more metals to my portfolio. If the Chinese market tanks, how much trouble are we in?

metals are foolhardy
You can't eat metals

Invest in agricultural land with good soil, consistent weather, and plentiful fresh water.

The only true power in this world is land because it is truly the only finite resource with an ever increasing population.

Not that much trouble. Since they don't really buy any of our shite, its not like our economy will tank b.c china tanks.

I wouldn't worry about china. I would much more concerned about the situation in europe.

I own a farm in NE Texas with good water. I don't plan on becoming a farmer any time soon (I own some cows that are out on the land but a local cattleman takes care of them).

This is Heather being wary and a little scared. The Greece and China issues are making me a little nervous. If things keep up like they are now for a few months, I'm thinking of selling my house and building out on the farm. I'm a pretty good gardener, and I could have a nice one out there.

at "renaissance woman"

I do like growing my own food - best way to make sure it is not loaded up with pesticides and herbicides. I have a few peach and pear trees now. Next year (unless it rains like it did this year), I hope to grow some basic vegetables.

I'd like to learn how to can.

The Shanghai doubled from 11/2014 to 6/2015, which is insane. The index is still up 16% YTD.

Figures.

I'll refrain political commentary on this board, but I'll start a thread soon on GMOs on the PoliBoard and we can give it a go.
