That all depends on the situation. I'd guarantee that I wouldn't have had 4 job offers last fall if it wasn't for my masters getting my foot in the door.

I agree with your sentiment. However, I think it has more to do with the recruiting opportunities that LSU MAcc brings to the table than the actual value of the degree. Would you agree?

Since I did not attend LSU for my masters, I don't think I'm in a position to evaluate the value of that degree. I know that before my masters program at University of Texas I had a very elementary understanding of finance and finance law, no understanding of government accounting, O&G accounting, forensics, internal audit, international tax, and advanced accounting. Now I would say I am knowledgeable in all of those areas and learned from professors that are extremely well respected in their field.
So I know there is value in my degree beyond the ridiculous number of recruiting opportunities it presented me. I would imagine the same goes for the LSU macc if you are there to learn.

Speaking as someone who chose the accounting route - master SQL and Excel
I work in Excel daily, and have passed the Microsoft certifications on it. I also passed the Access Database certification. I'm not a guru at either, but I do know both well.
