You and Brink have made me feel a lot better about my 1846 O dollar coin. I thought I did a pretty good job of bidding on it. It was sort of overlooked because the seller had the auction for it expiring on a weekday morning, which was dumb. Fewer bidders can be watching it in the last few minutes of bidding to get in with a last second bid.
Anyway I make a bid with about 10 seconds to go for $250 (when the highest bid showing at that point was $120) and got it for $148.96. There was no S&H for it.
Thanks for making me feel better about it.

Wow! My coin is in better condition than that. He won't get that price for it, IMO.

Thats what I thought. Thats also why i thought you paid a good chunk more than the $450 I predicted.

Also, to the group, what coins/currencies that are in circulation now do you being worth anything? For example, the gold presidential dollars?
I've been trying to get back into this thread but it is impossible to do with my coin collection being tucked away in the closet for hte meantime.
I'm learning that going on vacation for a few days results in punishment from the stack of work that built up. Once I get some breathing room I will sit down and start working my way through this thread again and hopefully offer you some insight

Any suggestions on what you guys would pay for a U.S. Mint Silver Proof set between 1994-1996? It includes a penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and half dollar all bearing the 'S' mint mark. Also the dime, quarter, and half dollar are all 90% silver. I am tempted to make an offer for buying a set, any feedback would be wonderful here.

Just a google search yielded between $30-$45... I did find one on Campbell yard sales, a local "ebay" so to speak, for $15.00... Link below. It is 1995. I would be more than happy to purchase it for you and ship it to you if you would be interested.

ETA: Not even sure if that is what you are looking for but I look for collectibles from time to time on there and remember seeing it.

Brink: don't believe the '95 set you are showing has silver content.

Yeah, it may not. I am not familiar with what Rick is after. Just thought I would throw that out there and see if I can help him.

Well there is a person selling 4 sets between 1994-1996 looking for best offer. This LINK gives an accurate description of what I am referring too. It looks similar to yours. I have contacted the seller and awaiting to hear back.
I still some pics to load on here, something I will try to accomplish over the next two days, of coins I acquired over the weekend. I also found 3 silver half dollars in a box. It took me all of 1.5-2 hours to search through. And I found a 1962 silver dime in some loose change Saturday.

For those complaining about shipping prices at apmex, just got an email. Free shipping on orders over $500. Only for the next couple of days though.

Need a code or is it built in?
I was just looking at ordering from Silvertowne, since they have free shipping on everything.
ETA: I may still order through silvertowne, they are about .50/oz cheaper than APMEX
ETA2: And Silvertowne doesn't upcharge to pay with a credit card and they accept Amex

The one that I linked from Campbell Yard Sales? If so and you want it, let me know if he will not ship it to you and I will buy it and ship it to you.
To the group, can someone tell me the significance of the Carson City Mint coins? Way too lazy to look it up.

New to all of this, but as I understand it, far less coins were minted in CC, so they are much more rare, hence higher in value.

Figured it was something along those lines.

But it also depends on what specific year and type of coin... Some of the "O" from the early 1900s are worth significantly more than others.

I see... Guess it's time to get off my lazy arse and do some research!
Real quick, same reasoning regarding the Orleans mint ones? Fewer minted?

I'd imagine so... I have a 2012 Coin Value book at home that lists everything.
Year
Mint Location
Number Minted
Value (Each of the grades)

The CC mint was only open for 23 years. When the silver mines around Carson City were depleted, the mint closed.
The New Orleans mint operated for about 46 years, both before and after the Civil War after taking a break for the war and reconstruction.
