I buy a majority of my bullion from gold and silver market in citiplace (near the cove). I sometimes buy Morgan's from Louisiana gold and coin on Sherwood due to there underpriced Morgan's (qualify wise, not smelt wise). I also have a buddy who lives in South Carolina that deals in coins and precious metals who sells to me at or very near to spot but I pay PayPal and shipping fees. If you're interested in buying, shop around first before you buy. See who's selling what and for how much and compare that to others to see who will provide you with the best bang for your buck.

That APMEX.Com site that was recommended looks legit, but after you figure in the shipping charges, it seems like you would be paying a good bit over spot
I guess what I'm asking, is if you go local, how likely is it to find a legit dealer at a great price

Shipping is a downfall with APMEX. My dad and I place orders together and chop the 12.95 in half. If you know someone else who would be interested, that may be an option.

I was checking in to this as well. APMEX and those companies kill you on the shipping. The coin shops around here seem to charge tax except on orders over $1000. If you didnt want to spend that much you might find someone who would split it with you to at least save on the tax and keep the cost over spot lower.

I use Silver Towne most of the time for my orders. Just since November I have added a tad over 32 ounces to my stack. 20oz in silver rounds, and 16 morgan/peace dollars which is 12.3752 ounces.

Anyone know anything about currency in here? Not trying to hijack the thread but I did not think another thread was necessary.
Anyways, I made a visit to a coin shop today, first time, and was looking through his currency and he had a 1934 $1 Red Seal with "HAWAII" printed on it and a 1935 $5 Red Seal with "HAWAII" as well. Dates might be reversed. Apparently pretty rare, he quoted me $105 for both but I probably could have gotten him down a little bit. Anyone know the value, or where to find the value of those? I did some google searches but really did not find anything interesting.
Since I already made my silver/coin purchase this month I was not expecting to buy anything. Ended up walking out with a 1883 Morgan rated MS and a 1971 IKE dollar from the San Fran mint for $51. I feel good about cause the Morgan had a price tag of $50 which he sold me for $40 and he sold me the IKE at melt. Did I get hosed or did I do good?

I have an 1883 Morgan, New Orleans ("O") mint, in uncirculated condition that I bought on eBay last year for $43 + $2.00 shipping & handling.
I also have an 1884 O Morgan (uncirculated condition) that I bought on eBay for $46 + $2.50 S&H.
On the other hand, I bought an 1883 Morgan in VF condition for $34 + $0 S&H, so.....
I think, based on eBay auctions, that "O" minted coins are a little more collectible and therefore a little higher priced.
So I believe you did just fine on the Morgan. You definitely did not get hosed on it.
I don't know about the other coins you referenced.

Mostly coins but because I have worked in 26 countries I have a pretty decent collection of contemporary currency bills from around the world.

New Orleans minted Morgan's can typically have a higher price tag due to the strikes on the Morgans weren't very good and very few came out of New Orleans with good strikes compared to those minted in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Denver and Carson city. But at the same time, New Orleans minted Morgan's cost less on average than those from other mints because of the high volume of Morgan's that were minted in New Orleans.

Congratulations! Don't spend it all in one place!
I was fortunate to work as an adviser in the central banks in several former Soviet Union republics, including Russia (big shock, I know, considering my screen name).
In five of those republics (Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia) the central bank presented me with a gift of a commemorative .999 silver coin depicting their newly won independence. I am very proud to display those coins. I've had guests ask to buy one from me and the bid price was very nice! But so far I've held onto them.

FWIW, I checked the mint mark on the Morgan I bought today and there is not one, which answers.com tells me is from the Philadelphia mint.

My oldest "O" dollar is an 1846, Seated Liberty (predecessor to the Morgan) silver dollar that is in VF condition. The "Liberty" on the shield is plainly visible along with all of the folds in Lady Liberty's robe similar to this one:
