I own plenty of NVDIA and PLTR, but none of AMD. I noticed they are near a 52 week low and a shell of what it was 6 months ago.

Do you think this is a good price for a buy or is it going to be left behind?

My thoughts are I wish I never opened that position
I figured with the strong name, strong revenue, and Lisa Su at the helm, this will surely recover soon…. One of the worst investments I’ve ever made

I don’t think they will get left behind. But I’m starting to think their management intentionally hampers share prices.

They seem to have a history of overpaying for unnecessary acquisitions. But, if you believe that struggle has passed, they just approved the issuance of another billion shares. So I anticipate the next solid run in share price will be summarily met with a share dump.

AMD is tough:
1) CPUs are killing Intel in the consumer market but that is a small market
2) GPUs are at an all time low market share in gaming. For the first time in a long time they didn't botch a new GPU rollout and capitalized on NVIDIA's stupidity. If you dont think they'll ever give up on GPUs, then they really have nowhere to go but up. But how much does it matter when it is just consumer gaming and competitors like NVIDIA are going up purely based on AI?

They are going to be releasing a new PC platform here in a year or so and that could mean great things or an opportunity for Intel to catch up if they botch it. I'll only ever buy AMD CPUs and GPUs but I dont have a clue how to view their stock.

Depends when you got in. I'm in since sub $5. Sold a bunch on way up from $30 to $60 to $130. Still have 1000 shares. I'm debating to sell all or hold, already made a killing.

It’s a volatile stock and appropriately named “advanced money destroyer”.

Id look for buys around 80.

Tech will rebound eventually and AMD will benefit. IMO .

AMD stock performs in a wierd way so beware what you are getting into. If NVDA and tech drop 1%, amd takes 2%. If NVDA and tech surges 5%, amd might get 2%.

It’s a very unique stock that I suggest you research further before putting a order for a substantial lot size in

Fabless company competing with other customers for TSMC manufacturing. Their pricing power will always be limited, considering the massive resources that Nvidia, Qualcomm, and Apple are competing for the same manufacturing time.

Some AMD shilling hitting my inbox

quote:

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD). Finally, An-E suggests it’s time to jump into AMD, the keenest rival to Nvidia. AMD is one of the best-managed companies in the world. Its CEO, Lisa Su, executed such a notable turnaround that landed her the winner of 2024’s CEO of the Year Award. AMD Zen architecture performs well against Intel Corp.’s (INTC) versions, and its consumer-facing graphics processing units (GPUs) now rival Nvidia’s in speed. AMD has also succeeded in creating a crossover between GPUs and central processing units (CPUs) thanks to its 2022 acquisition of Xilinx. The trade war between the U.S. and China has recently depressed AMD underlying value. The company expects to take a $800 million loss on export restrictions on MI308 AI chips, and AI-related revenues from China will likely head to zero in the near term. That cuts the company’s fair value closer to $125 per share. However, the 42% selloff over the past 12 months is far too steep. AMD now trades at a wide discount to its fair value, and An-E is flagging it as a good buy.
