Fri: “redditors are going after billionaires, odd that billionaires are siding with them as if saying ‘don’t come after me’”

This guy has a job swaying back-and-forth like this? What value does this dinosaur bring to the show?

Interviews with WeBull CEO in this link LINK

Takeaway from Robinhood yesterday who halted buying first:

quote:

THEY HAD A LIQUIDITY PROBLEM
THE SHORTS ARE STARTING TO GO BUST
THE BROKERS ARE ON THE HOOK TO GET SHARES THAT THEIR CLIENTS CANT GET
THE BROKERS THEMSELVES CANNOT COVER THESE POSITIONS PROPERLY
THE CLEARING HOUSE ALSO CANNOT COVER AND ARE GETTING LOANS FROM THE BANKS DUE TO THE CAPITAL REQUIREMENTS.

I moved my positions from RH to TDA last week. After everything gets moved, you have to send RH a message in order to deactivate your account.

I just now sent that message, and got very descriptive about what I think about RH and what I think should happen to them.

What RH did yesterday would happen at any broker in the country due to net capital reserve requirements. I understand it’s part of the nice cover story of this pump and dump to frame it as another them vs us thing, but it’s simply untrue.

Firms have to hold capital based on the volatility of the shares they hold. GME is as volatile a stock as you’ll ever find, so their relative capital requires are quite high. When you consider how many RH investors have picked it up lately, and you consider the to the moon rise, RH couldn’t allow new positions without violating their capital requirements. That’s why they drew down their own lines of credit yesterday.

I’ve got no love lost for RH, but they were ducked one way or the other yesterday. Same would happen at TDA if people owned GME there at the same levels as RH.

Does a cash balance in an individual account get counted towards those capital requirements? If not then why prohibit outright buys rather than just options and margin moves?

I believe so.

Taking a dollar and buying a share of GME with it discounts the hell out of that dollar for their capital requirements.

RH will only let you buy up to 5 shares of GME if you don’t already have 5. If you have more than 5 shares already, GGs, find another broker

if it were true, why did they not allow buying of shares in BB, AMC, NOK etc?

They should’ve put out a clear statement yesterday morning. Businesses need to learn to be transparent with its customers. Some end of the day ambiguous word salad makes matters worse

This is what I don't understand, we are talking about a few stocks. Not the whole market.

Because of ongoing volatility. A dollar going into any of them makes RH life difficult due to liquidity issues they create.

I spent the day on the OT discussing this in the thread there - I’m all for death to hedge funds, but there are market dynamics and regulations that a place like RH runs into that requires they limit their exposure.
