Those probabilities are that statistics show that at least 50% of all marriages end in divorce.

Those probabilities are that statistics show that at least 50% of all marriages end in divorce. With 4 girls that would mean at least 1/2 will get divorced. Thus, a more prudent thing to do with this money would be split the money and future savings for weddings and going toward down payments of houses for the 4 of them.
The numbers are much lower now. It is closer to 41% of first time marriages ending in divorce. The marriage rates are down, marriages are occurring later in life and divorce rates are statistically down significantly over the last 24 years.
As your your “prudent” advice, you want him to make a large down payment on a home you suggest will likely be split between his daughter and future ex-son-in-law? Seems impractical to suggest is it prudent to give the futures Ex-son-in-law equity in a home he will receive 1/2 of after the marriage ends in divorce.
We should offer opinions or advice on how to make or invest money, not how to spend it or how it should not be spent on someone’s children.

We used our brokerage account and saved as normal. Sliced out what we needed when the time came.
