I haven't been in BR for many years so I have no idea who to recommend. That said, the answer depends a bunch on your specific needs. Some questions to consider:

1. How much $$$ are you talking about? $20k, $200k, or $2m?

If only $20k you will probably be paying high commissions just to make it worth the advisor's time. Frankly a roboadvisor might be your best option. $200k is the low end of when you might be looking at fee-only advice, and $500k for more full-service.

2. What do you need exactly? Just investment choices, or a long-term financial plan? Is insurance expertise needed or are you just investing?

3. Do you (or are you likely to) own a business? Any special tax needs? Do you need to plan for educational expenses for the kids?

Do you have 3 months of expenses in a savings account for emergencies?

Do you have any high interests outstanding debt (credit card, personal loan, etc)?

Does you job offer a 401k?

Do you have or are you eligible for a Roth IRA?

How old are you?

You are given a choice between 2 options:

A. A stable comfortable life with security
B. Hookers and blow when you can score some

Which is more appealing to you?

What are your goals for the money?

Is qualified (retirement account) money, or non-qualified?

Does the advisors location matter to you? Do you want an advisor that's willing to see you at your place of business, or would you prefer to meet with him at his office?
