L2 registration today. Oh and LCPA you are welcome for your $400 fee to renew my cpa license (thankfully I found out the company will foot that). Buddy's wedding in 3 weeks then its all over for 2 months. FML I wish I was smarter.

I am very happy my company will not/cannot be bought.

A B4 would be a lot harder to pull off since its a giant partnership. You can't just buy out the stock. I can't imagine why anyone would want to do such a thing in the first place. Service lines, sure, but the whole thing? Nah.

No way the gov't would allow a B4 to acquire another one.
Service lines for sure...I think audit will always exist, but tax and consulting definitely have flex to them.

My sarcasm meter has been broken for months unfortunately.

Half the office is out, half of the remaining half is stuck in a CLE from 12-4. Just took an hour and a half lunch with 2 coworkers and drank 2 beers. winning.

My books came in yesterday. Not studying for another week.

With regard to the material in L2/L3, would you say that you use a good amount in your current career? Or is all the studying/preparing more just for the end goal of those three little letters at the end of your name.

I use stats, equity, and accounting stuff every day. We do a lot of fixed income and private equity/hedge fund valuation stuff too so I use that a lot more than I would have otherwise expected to. So yes I think the material has a practical every day purpose along with an academic one.

I would love to be utilizing some of the things i learn to reinforce...unfortunately the whole reason i'm doing the CFA is to make it easier to crack into the that world.

I passed Level 1 in Summer 2005. Anyone know if that credit is still good or how long it will be good for?

Sure, I think that's the case for most people. I mean we use a lot of it but its not like I'm planning on retiring here.

I don't think they lapse at all.

I may consider going back for L2 and L3 at some point. I am a registered CPA in Illinois. It depends on where my next career route is.

Registered in La, but I actually just let it lapse accidentally. Luckily the company will pay for it.

You have 5 years between passes and then you have to restart.
