Has anyone thought about creating a TigerDroppings "app"? Obviously the large majority of people would just use the internet to get to this site, but hey, you never know the amount that would buy it from the app store for quicker access. If i were unemployed/had more time on my hands, i think that'd be a neat side project considering this place is definitely going to get more followers and posters as the football season draws closer.

There's already kind of like an unofficial app. It's basically just a simplified version of the forum without ads and without all the extra features. But, I agree, they could probably make some coin charging .99 in the App store.
But they've kind of already gotten people hooked on the free mini-site version.

S&P threatens downgrade of U.S. financial companies

(Reuters) - Standard & Poor's on Friday raised the pressure on debt negotiators in Washington, saying it could downgrade insurers, securities clearinghouses, mortgage agencies and a laundry list of other firms without a deal soon to lift the debt ceiling and cut the deficit.

When looking at a resume, what are 3 things that you look for/jump out to you immediately?
I am rewriting mine right now and I want to make sure and get the important stuff right at the top.

For someone right out of college:
1) Format--if there are mistakes is formatting then it instantly discredits the person.
2) GPA--this is a hurdle that is different for each position
3) Experience/Leadership--show me you aren't just a nerd.

Work experience is definitely one of the most important things, but what I listed is in order of what I look at when I pick up a resume.
Format is something you notice instantly. GPA takes a quick glance.
Experience and leadership are going to be the bulk of the actual verbage on the resume, so you spend the most time on that portion when you actually read the resume.

I would add:
(1) Make sure it's one page.
(2) Make sure the verbage is result-oriented. Ex. Instead of something generic like "helped write memoranda," I would use more active verbage like "drafted memoranda." With really broad descriptions, you will get questions. So either limit to something more specific, or be prepared to answer in detail. Also, with something specific like "drafted," they know you were the one writing the memoranda.
(3) I wouldn't always suggest it and this may have more or less to do with the position you're applying for, but an 'Objective' section can provide the reader with a bit more color with respect to what you're looking to get out of the job.
(4) Only include your GPA if it's really good. If it's not really good, don't put a GPA. I know that sounds unorthodox, but it's good advice, IMO. If they like your resume, but they have a question about your GPA, let them call you and (if it's low) get that information from you first-hand. If you put '2.7' on there, they may immediately write you off without calling you. But if they call you, you already have a huge advantage over all of the other pooled applicants and you get to provide some sort of explanation which they may find acceptable.

All great points, RSBR. The cutoff for not listing a GPA varies for different positions though. Also keep in mind that some positions will not even consider you if you don't list a GPA, so there is a catch 22.
In addition to the correct result-oriented verbage, make sure to use as much quantitative data as possible.
"Aided in the production of 2011 year budget" sounds okay but is dry.
"Aid in the production of a $300 million dollar 2011 year budget" gives much more information as to the level of trust and respect of the person aiding in that process.

Agreed on all counts. That last point is an especially good one.

I always had trouble with that last one until I had a recent MBA grad from a top 20 program drill it into my head
