Our pool builder gave us a programmable variable speed pump. It runs at 80% speed for some number of hours a day, I want to say 4 hours, then runs at 50% speed for about 8 or 10.

It's all set by the "computer" they installed as a part of their equipment package, and it just varies the speed on it's own. It's all on a schedule so there isn't any need to go manually adjust anything. It's been set the way it is since the pool was finished and I haven't touched it. Pool stays super clear.

Since you're in the sweeping your pool daily stage, sweep that thing as often as you can. Makes it much more smoothe on the bottom.

As a homeowner with a beautiful gunnite pool, my advice would be don’t get a pool. If you have kids and really want something for their entertainment, get a cheaper lined pool while they are little then fill it in when they are older. Otherwise, save your money and join a country club with a nice pool or take a ton of nice vacations to resorts with awesome pools.
