If there ever is a cap put on mining
Or are you trying to say if Doge ever burned a percentage of the circulating coins? Capping the mining won't reduce the number of coins already out there.

I don’t think you really grasp what Doge is. It’s not worth anything, it’s not worth the $.18 it’s at now, it’s not worth $.01. But like anything else in the world, it’s worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If a cap was ever put on it, people would scramble to own it and the price would get driven up quite high.
I get you want to trust the math and that’s all fine, but it is an illogical coin, that a bunch of Internet message board types have made into something with value, the math doesn’t matter if people are willing to pay for it.
And again, I don’t think Doge is going to be worth 100’s of dollars one day. But $1? $10? It’s possible

if coinbase adds it to their platform, add some extra boosters to that rocket

quote:I fully get this too. What I don't think you understand is that I am strictly talking market cap calculations here. 100 coins x $1 each = $100 market cap. Circulating coins multiplied by coin price = market cap. I was only referencing your "$100's of dollars per coin" comment by saying with the amount of circulating coins today, the total market cap would be more than the US government debt.

Ride that rocket until those people understand what the blockchain is

I'm happy to see Doge doing well. I don't own any but I feel like it's a gateway coin to bring new people into the crypto world.

DOGE has flippened UNI, LINK, LTC and its not a defi swap token, its not an oracle, its not a smart contract platform, and it hasnt had meaningful development in years

Reminds me of....TSLA in the equity markets. Except TSLA actually produces products and services.
The "market caps" of pretty much every coin save BTC and ETH are an illusion because spot prices are manipulated so easily due to exchange liquidity, token distribution and the unregulated crypto hype machine.
I'm not advocating regulation here, just pointing out how these "valuations" get where they are now.

Facts: Doge, BTC, and LTC are all the same at its core. Doge is an analog of LTC, LTC an analog of BTC. Obviously everyone knows Doge is infinite but transactions are faster. LTC is more fungible and more private than BTC but has more supply.

well since BTC is finite and transactions are instantaneous on lightning (i can send you btc for free on cashapp right now). this is not even close to reality
being an analog is accurate but the doge supply being infinite and the btc supply being finite kinda makes the comparison fundamentally pointless

there are 5 billion coins added to the dogecoin cap annually, lord have mercy
Posted on 4/15/21 at 5:43 pm to rocket31
Yea but what if is really takes off one day! Not like 8,500% gain over the past year. Like really really takes off...

Woosh. Please school me on the lightening network.

Whether the supply is infinite or not doesn’t change the fundamentals of the protocol or use case.

lightning nodes have doubled year after year and yea, you can send btc for free, instantly on strike app or cashapp.
lightning is a centralized solution to the scaling problem of the first bitcoin layer (which is obviously slower and secure)
