Texas is going to use crypto as national currency when they eventually secede.

The fiat dollar is what keeps America alive. Once it becomes irrelevant...

Hoping ADA and LINK can push through their recent barriers today. Both have been stagnant for a while.

imagine sitting on the sidelines during the emergence of the crypto business cycle and runway growth

we might never get an opportunity like this in our lives again and there are still people convincing themselves not to buy

brutal

Yep. Dollar has been rising the last couple months (despite Washington’s best efforts) and gold has been dying. The old narratives of what should make bitcoin go up (dying dollar, rising precious metals) are being overwhelmed by the adoption curve.

Super bullish especially when considering a backdrop where the dollar might resume its slide like this one:

energy consumption

I don't think that one will go away any time soon given the political climate. If there are two protocols that can offer similar security, scalability and censor resistance but one at better energy efficiency then of course the more energy efficient protocol should capture the largest network in the long run.

It is a question of how long it takes for the understanding of the tradeoffs of POW, POS and hybrid systems to disseminate.

PoS is everything we wanted to avoid with the legacy system

bitcoin might get pressured to fork into PoS but it will be a sad day when they happens

you still have to sell the crypto to fiat before the transaction or did i see that wrong? the person receiving payment doesn't receive the bitcoin, right?

Agree for the most part. No doubt that pure POS leads to "rich get richer" centralization. Same could be argued for POW though in terms of mining hardware. I think that is why the projects working on hybrid systems that include the best properties of each system and exclude the worst through clever engineering of protocol incentives will win....eventually.

Eventually could take a long time. Or it could happen much faster than we think.

I just saw the headline this morning and need to look into the mechanics of it. I believe the entire process is handled by Paypal. When you want to buy something online you pull up Paypal as payment option and from there you can pay out of crypto you have with Paypal.

Paypal recently bought a crypto custody firm (Curv) which has a lot of different coins. I'm guessing they are integrating that with their online point of sale.

isn't that an asset transaction? how to you report that for your taxes? it's a rhetorical question of course.
