we will be building a home starting next month, and i had an idea to use a credit card as much as able with "our cash" (about 60k) and try to collect points to use specifically to use to take the kids to disney in 2020. what would be the best option to do this? TIA

AMEX points are worth the most. But everyone doesn't accept AMEX.

AMEX Platinum has a 70k signup bonus. 60k points added to this would give you about $2600 worth of points, but there is a $550 annual fee.

Richmond Savers has this hacked pretty well

My wife and I did this last year with Capital one Venture. (I already had the card). We earned 2x the points on everything and the points don't expire.

You can no longer book Disney vacation packages through Ultimate Rewards. The only way to use UR is to stay at an off site hotel. I’ve read that you can also get tickets with URs.

I would signup for a Capital One Savor card for you and your wife. You'll each get a $500 bonus when you spend $3K in the first 3 months. I've done it and the $500 is available within a day or two of hitting $3K. I'm going to do the same for my wife.

ETA: There is an annual fee that is waived for the first year so you may want to make a note to cancel the cards before you get hit with an annual fee.

Next you could sign up for Disney's card. When I did it you got a $200 gift card after spending $500 and a $50 gift card if you add an authorized user. You also get discounts on purchases in the park. I think it's 10% on purchases $75 or higher. I think you also get discounts on restaurants.

After that I would look at a 2% cash back card. I use Citi's Double Cash card. Right now it looks like it has $100 cash back after you spend $500 in 3 months. My wife and I used this for around a year and a half and used the cash back to pay for a trip to Universal.

Once you get the cash bonuses in each account you can get an additional discount by buying Disney gift cards from wholesale clubs like Sam's or BJ's. I buy them from BJ's and the discount is usually around 4% but I've seen it as high as 8%.

A website like Nerd Wallet or Doctor of Credit will tell you the cards with the best sign up bonuses.
