Might be a dumb question, but why do govt economic reports never leak?

Why do things like jobs reports, gdp prints, and other data rarely leak before they are officially released, when leaking is so rampant in other parts of govt?

Because the SEC, et al actual prosecute crimes unlike other entities in the government.

How do you know they don’t? Think about it this way: if some secret government file leaks, the press has a chance to make news (and money) by publishing it. But there’s nothing sexy about publishing economic reports a week or so before they would be made public anyway.
On the other hand, if you DID want to make money off of advanced knowledge of those reports, it would be in your best interest to keep your knowledge secret.
