Not really, it's changed a little but not close to 35. Maybe we are just making more informed decisions today.

Your graphic doesn't apply to my point. I'm not saying the average age of marriage is 35. I'm saying there is a higher number of people with first marriages in their 30s than 25 years ago. Similarly, there is a higher percentage of couples who never get married. They just live together.

Bottom line, when someone enters their first marriage they are absolutely certain it's forever. A high percentage get divorced. I think this causes a degree of caution and skepticism when contemplating a second marriage.

Joint account for all regular expenses, savings, and shopping for the family unit.

We both also have a separate accounts and get 10% of the paycheck in those. Those are "fun" accounts that we use for things we do individually... golf, spa, nails, car stuff, casino, random splurge shopping, etc. No questions asked, no complaining.

Love our system. Won't do it any other way.

As far as bills go, I am in charge of paying monthly bills. I have a spreadsheet that I keep to track expenses and I send it to my wife after I pay so she stays aware of how we're doing.

The wife and I had always used one account for the past 34 years and it has worked out great. There is no his or hers moneys. It's our money/bills.

We are all in together. Have been, are and will be.

If it ends up like a country music song, you can tell me you told me so

...which will be the title of the song.
