Anyone else having issues scheduling exams? Seems that even on a week night the nearest scheduled time may be an hour or more away. That's never happened before. It's always been in 5 minute increments. 9 am on Friday morning I had to wait 45 minutes. Now 2:30 pm on saturday and the nearest time is 30 minutes out. I can understand on a Sunday night but it just seems strange. Anyone else seeing this?

So question to everyone that is doing this online program or that have done an online program in the past.

What is the best way that y’all have found to communicate with your classmates since you are not getting to meet them face to face?

I see that some have mentioned things in this thread. I have herd some of y'all say Group Me. Does the university provide y’all with a good way to communicate with each other?

Thank you for sharing. I did not know of canvas. I had created something 2 years ago that tried to let the students have their own form of communication separated from the university and launched it at UL and LSU. Although many students signed up it never fully took off as I had hoped. I think that I should have given it a bit more time. Also at the time I had very limited resources, but I feel that I have learned a lot since then. Part of me still wants to try again, as I am currently working in the oilfield but now seems like a great time to give it another shot. I still have all of the coding available to start back up if I can get the beta product back up and raise the funds.

Does anyone that does solely online college think that a platform like this would be beneficial to them or is it behind technology that already exists?

I think you mean a financial calculator. It is not required. I never used one, because I found it harder to learn the calculator than to write the formulas on the allowed note sheet and use a four function during the exam.

I would first make sure whatever calculator you have is allowed. I don’t think a scientific calculator is allowed.

Yes. I don't know if this is CoVid related, but I've been having issues for the past few months, but more specifically last week. Maybe they've seen an uptick from other universities moving to 100% online, IDK. I had to contact support directly 2x last week. Both times they were able to immediately schedule my exam, as it was getting close to the cut off time.

Is anyone taking Marketing Analytics? If so, how is it so far?

You talking 715? If so, it's ok i guess. Basically deals with "R" and I hate working with that program. If you have familiarity with R it's probably not too bad.

That's it? I was thinking for marketing they would cover Tableau or Python as well. It sounds like it's the same as ISDS 710 Data-Driven Decision Making

FIN 740 has been a monster so far (only in week 2). I've read that it was a simple course. Maybe it's just me but I had no idea what I was getting in to. 0 guidence from Sung Kim and the topic is still obscure to the point that you can't find most of the information on line. If you aren't well-versed in coding or finance I'd recommend not taking it. But that's just me... ALso keep in mind I'm doubling up with Heller MADM 760 which is demanding and likely hurting 740 performance.

Sorry... not sure how to make a new post. Seems replying to the last post was easiest.

Currently taking MADM760 - finding the load to be moderate and quite manageable..

Next session - if they are available, thinking of doubling up with ECON705 and MKT701

thoughts and suggestions?

I caught on way faster to the financial calculator than using my head or a normal calculator. I’d say get it if you haven’t already.

PresJohnTyler, I agree with you. This is not the kind of subject that you can easily apply what is written in the text to a similar question with different variables. And like most classes in this program, there is not really any teaching happening. The instructor gives some readings, and in this case, the reading material has very little explanation of the use of the code. Most of the classes I took did not include live zoom sessions, they were recorded from a while ago. That makes this class difficult because I don't have much experience coding.

Hey @tigertrainer1!

I didn't pair up these classes together but found both to be pretty simple to manage. I've got Si Chen for MKT701 this semester, and the classload is easy. 3x tests, 3x 3-5p papers, and 6x discussion posts with NO replies. AC seems to grade leniently, only marking down APA errors as best as I can tell so far...I'd say fo for it.
