Craig, I'm just staring my MBA. First class I'm registering for is MKT 701 with Minseong Kim. Did you have them as the professor for this course? Any feedback on them? All help and advice is appreciated.

The LSUS MBA program recently moved over to ProctorU, which is one of the worst proctoring I have ever experienced. It's a privacy nightmare and gave me severe anxiety for any test. If I wasn't in the middle of the program, I would not get an MBA from LSUS based solely on this fact.
ProctorU: Made me show them all my medical paperwork next to my desk despite being open book, took control of my mouse and opened up pinned tabs that weren't open, went thru my folder, asked me to show where my phone was and then asked me to prove where it was, reviewed everything on my desk, reviewed everything on my computer. Every time I have to take a test it's the worst day of the week. Don't choose this school.

Proctor U has been a nightmare for me as well!! I’ve had problems with EVERY test session (I have 2 a week). 7 out of 10 sessions have had disconnect issues – three tests submitted before I even finished answering and at least four more temporarily disconnected, during the exam, which left me with only a few minutes left to finish once the proctor recovered the exam. The professor has been very gracious in letting me re-take the ones that were submitted unfinished, but I am 100% certain that Proctor U is responsible for my disappointing test grades. I find myself making careless mistakes because I am rushing through in fear that I will be disconnected. Thankfully I am able to maintain a decent grade with other assignments.
I also don’t like the idea of strangers rummaging through my computer, and having access to my personal files.

Hi I just enrolled in the online MBA program. I have a full time job and enrolled in the following 2 courses starting in 2 weeks:
ACCT 701 - Li Huang
MADM 760 - Sam Wyatt
What is the difficulty level of this course work? Anything I should know about the professors, tests, etc before starting?
Also can someone share their syllabus with me? alcazar_maribel@yahoo.com

I concur. They have asked me to remove a second monitor off of my desk. When I refused to do that, they asked me to cover it with a sheet. I refused to do that, they asked me to show them the plug at the end of the cord to show it wasn't plugged in. My whole argument is that they have control of my computer...they can see what I can see. They also have the ability to monitor 2 screens so I am not sure what their issue is with that.
Two more classes and I'm done.

Anyone have any comments about FIN 730 with Choi? Looking for specifics about how the materials are presented and tests are given. Proctor/ no proctor, open book etc.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

Thomas, I haven’t taken Choi for 730 but I do have him for 701 and know I would take him for 730 in a heartbeat. His communications are all written (no zoom or lecture) though they are very thorough and set you up for success. In 701, our structure is:
2 slide decks a week w/ 1 practice problem set
Over the 7 weeks, we have 3 proctored exams that are not open note but you are allowed a 1/2 sheet of paper which has been sufficient for me and I am not a strong math person. Additionally, we have 5 discussion posts (200 words) w/ a required response to a classmate and 2 case studies (500 words). The way he has structured our class, you can get 50s/60s on the exams and still pull a B because the discussions and case studies are weighed heavily. For someone like me who hates math but enjoys writing, this has been ideal.
I really like Dr. Choi. He has an active discussion board and will walk you through anything you don’t understand. He’s been very responsive and positive (no demoralizing emails or anything). I recommend him for sure!

PS I realize his 730 may be a little different but I would expect him to structure it very similarly.

Many professors are new or are teaching courses for the first time so you won’t get much feedback. Minseong used to teach International Marketing only which is an elective. His reviews on Rate my Professor were terrible and included a group project so I opted out of that. Can’t say how 701 will be and haven’t seen any one in the forum ever mention him as a 701 professor.

I've read on the forum that he doesn't allow excel for 701. Is that true? If so, I hope that isn't the case for 730. I've taken FIn 701 and am almost finished with Fin 720 and am quite reliant on excel.

I can confirm. No excel for 701. Financial calculator allowed. Good class. Good professor.

Yes, as Quintus says- this is true. I also prefer Excel, but Choi does set you up for success for the exams and shows you how to use the financial calculator (step by step).

Finishing my first class with Fabio Acct 701 next week... 4 hours a week easy A if you know basic excel and common business knowledge.
Are all the classes this easy?

No - You got a good professor. Wait til you hit the icebergs of MKT 701, MADM 760 or FIN 701 and check back with us ;)

Nope. It really depends on your strengths, but I find the Math clases tougher but less time consuming. When you hit MKT and MADM (from what I've read) you'll find that writing takes much more time. I spent 10-12 hrs per week in MKT.
