socal, gsmba, brentb.. Glad I am not the only one feeling this way with Vines. Hopefully things go a lot better after this first test once we know what to expect. I know all the quantitative stuff as well just worried about the other stuff. Watched all of the zoom sessions and still overwhelmed.

4 of the 9 you could probably answer with only reading the guide. The rest may have been mentioned in the guide but to answer the depth of the question you would've needed to read the supporting material in the chapter. I answered every question and I'm pretty certain I was 100% correct on 5 of the 10. It just depends on how much partial credit I get on the others.
I'm typically good at comprehending what I read. I read the guide twice and all the chapters and was still stumped on a couple of them. But it doesn't matter how good you comprehend, six 40ish page chapters is just too much material to comprehend for short answer questions. I would prefer a test every week on half the material.

Vines is tough, no doubt, but a B is definitely conceivable. I did ok on first 3 quizzes, and nearly aced the last. Finished right at an 82.3%.

Well I pulled an A. So be sure to get something down that makes some sense for each question and he'll give you the credit.

I just completed the first quiz for FIN 701 with vines as well. I have not received my score at this time. I am nervous about how I did. I am pretty certain I got a 100% on 5 of them. I went through all of the questions at first and answered the ones I thought were least time consuming then proceeded with the math which took a little bit of time but I was able to make sure I was accurate. Then there were two questions I was a little stumped on and I just wrote some stuff hoping it made sense.

I just took the first FIN701 quiz 1 with vines and I ended up with 8 short answer and 2 math questions.. One of the short answer questions had things on it I had never seen in the book and had to look in the index to see if it was included in the chapters that were included on the test... Which it wasn't so Google was then used. Not an easy test at all.

Nice work, I took it this morning and ended up with only one math problem and 9 qualitative. Still waiting back for the score. He mentioned in one of the zoom sessions that test 2 and 3 are more math centered so hopefully it will not be as tough of a test

I managed an "A", I was given 6 qualitative problems and 4 quantitative problems. I was surprised how broad the questions were. The 4 math problems I got was pretty basic compared to some of the practice problems we had during the preparation. On to Test 2 now. I think we all will feel much better about prepping for this test as we now know what to expect from Dr. Vines. Good luck everyone!

I somehow managed an A as well! Will we be able to view the scoring? I was unable to find the comments at this point, maybe once all testing has been graded we can views ours.

A here also. At first I couldn't review but I can now that the testing window has closed

Is it just me or does everyone wish we had the qualitative problems now vs the quantitative. The math for Test 2 is INTENSE!!

Haha, yea right now test one is looking like a breeze! I have read the reading guide about 4 times and i have small bits and pieces understanding, but nowhere near feeling comfortable with a test.

I’ve been thinking about getting an online MBA from LSU Shreveport, so I’ve been reading the postings in this forum to get an idea of how the program works. There are still a few things I’m not clear about. Could someone please answer the following questions for me?
Are most quizzes and tests proctored? Are any of them open book/open notes?
How many hours per week do you typically spend on a class? From what I’ve read in all of the other postings on this forum, it seems like 10 – 20 hours is the norm. Does that sound about right?
Do you have group projects in every class? Do you get to choose your groups or are they assigned by the instructor?
Thanks

Neo_Anderson - I have only taken 2 courses so far (ECON 705 & FIN 701 currently) and neither of those were proctored but I do know that there are classes that are but that is 2 of the 10 that is not. You can use what resources you see fit on the test for these two courses. In ECON 705 I spent the 15-20 hrs a week on it, it was pretty difficult but I did learn a lot from it. FIN 701 I am doing about the same work on if not a tad bit more just because it is not structured like a normal class. It is very self directed which promotes A LOT of learned knowledge but is very stressful at the same time! If I was fine with getting C's or B's I could probably pull off 8-10 hrs a week but I want A's just because that shows I really prepared and learned the material. No group projects yet, but I did find a study partner for ECON (which I now call a friend) and attend all online chat sessions with the professors.
Good Luck!

Anybody ponied up and taken the FIN701 test 2 yet? I'm gonna try and knock it out before the Super Bowl, just curious how it is b/c its seems like the material is much harder than the first test.

I literally almost fell in the floor when I read this post just due to the fact that i came to the forum to post the same thing!!! I think everyone is scared of this test 2. I am about to just go ahead and start it and get it over with so i can light the grill already!!

Just got done on Test 2. Like test 1 it was a lot more manageable than I thought it would be!

C's aren't an option. You'll be placed on academic probation if you dip below a 3.0. You can't have more than 2 C's in the program. Even if you were higher than a 3.0, but have 3 C's, you won't be able to graduate.

GSMBA, what was your breakdown of qualitative vs quantitative?
