Louisiana Tax Refund Question

I filed back in February via mail.
TurboTax e-filed my federal return and allowed me to print and mail my state return. They were not letting me e-file state taxes for some reason.
Well here we are seven months later and still no refund. Never got any kind of letter from the LA DOR so just assumed my mailed return was still processing all this time.
Get back on TurboTax and sure enough now it lets me e-file the state return. I am owed a refund but will John Bel and Co. show up at my door soon and escort me to Angola?
Or will I just get a small percentage penalty for technically e-filing late?

You won't get arrested or anything like that, but you will be penalized if they never received your return. Are you saying they never received your hard copy return, or you just still haven't received your refund? You need to check to see if they received the first return before you do anything else, but if they did and you are just now waiting on the refund don't hold your breath.

I sent a paper return back in Feb. I'm assuming they never got it being that it's been seven months with no refund.

You can check your refund status online.
Did you send the tax return via certified mail?

The status of your refund is not available at this time. Please check again at a later date. If you filed your taxes electronically, you can expect to receive your refund within 60 days from the filing date. If you filed a paper return, you can expect your refund within 14 weeks from the filing date.

One time I never got my $200 La tax refund. So I just said whatever. About a year or two later I got a penalty letter saying I never filed. I e-mailed them about it, and they said to mail them a copy of my return.
About 2 months later I got my full refund with no penalty.
I don't know if this helps you any, but I thought I'd share. If you can find a contact, I'd e-mail them about the status to see if they have received a filing.

Thanks!
I went ahead and e-filed thru Turbo Tax. It shows my process date on there of February so hopefully they understand why it was late.

Just to allay your concerns.
If you are "late" the penalties are based on the amount you owe. If you don't owe anything... no penalty.
