And possibly also open a home equity or Line of credit loan. Any recommendation on bank/institution that has good rates? Also is there a good site that lists the best rates? Web searches kind of all over place.

Historically you get a private loan that combines the federal loans into a single payment and averages the interest rates.

In return you give up the benefits and protections federal loans provide, and you need to be certain about your decision because you are only entitled to one consolidation.

Guess you don't think you'll be eligible for any loan forgiveness?
Lose that option if you privatize your loans.

And if a federal loan, make darn sure it is and stays with the Department of Education ---- once it hits a Servicer, good luck.

Ive consolidated 3 or 4 times, best rate was in Covid, allowing me to pay off law school loans 11 years early.

You must have had a unique situation.

You can generally consolidate your federal student loans only once, but you can do it a second time if you add an eligible loan to the mix.
