Looking for an beginner app/ platform for small investments, etc.

I'm looking to just get my feet wet with some small stock purchases and mostly long term investing.
I'm thinking of starting with 500 or 1000 dollars.
I have some stretches of downtown in my day and I enjoy researching and reading, so I figured this could be a good way to do something productive. I'm not planning on being a millionaire from it.
Any suggestions?

I'm not worried about every trade being free or the app being free.
I want a good quality app that's enjoyable and efficient to use.

I'm just being stubborn because I have always used TD Ameritrade and ETrade.
I know a lot of people use Robinhood so they may be OK but I like the research tools of TD Ameritrade a lot. Robinhood doesn't even have a desktop application yet if you ever wanted to get more involved. I think they are working on one, though not sure when it will be out. They are free but IIRC the paid option they recently announced will have more tools than the free trade accounts.
Also, and this probably won't matter to you until you get more experience, but I don't think Robinhood offers options trading yet.
TD Ameritrade and E Trade are $6.95 per trade but on ETrade they add a .25 cent fee per contract if you trade options.
In the end, it's all personal preference, and there are a lot of options. Ally, Fidelity, etc but I'm not sure I would choose something that appears as watered down as Robinhood currently is.
Do some research and see what fits you, though.

Yeah I'd definitely like to eventually get more involved. So something like this suits me I'd think.
What about an app just for fricking around with active trading penny stocks just for fun?

I have. Just wanted to get this board's opinion.
I've read etrade is the what for beginners, but the more experience or advanced you get the less worth it is.
TD Ameritrade is apparently the best all around.

Agree with Robinhood as well.

Then do Robinhood so the commissions don't kill you.

I think so. Nothing says you can't have a TDA account for research and do your actual trading on Robinhood.

Ustocktrade has $1 fees and unlimited day trades. Robinhood has no fees but you are limited to 3 day trades per week if your account is under 25k

The problem with UST is there can be Limited Liquity sometimes. And the app isn't top notch. But if you are day trading with a small account, you can't beat it with the 1$ trades

Anyone else have experience with UST?

Can I buy and sell on both?

Yes
As long as you have money in both obviously

Wish me luck. I look forward to partying with Wiki after I hit a few solid relatively unknown investments

Pro tip: Only buy stocks that go up. You're welcome!

Lol.
I see a shite load of negative reviews about the TD Ameritrade app basically wing unusable on newer smart phones.
Have you noticed a problem?

I haven't had an issue with it and I have a Note 8 or whatever the newest one is.

So do. I suppose that solves that.

Robinhood is the only option now. It’s improved drastically over the two years I’ve been using it.
It’s a great place to learn with $500
