True. But also learning where you went wrong. That's why I'd suggest paper trading, once you get past selling covered calls and whatnot. Unlike with stocks, time is not on your side in many cases. And while some people like and want to delve into very complex strategies, others find two or three basic strategies and fine tune them over a period of time. Absolutely right, managing risk (vs. potential reward) is key. But as long as you do that and your strategy matches current conditions, and you understand your profit and loss lines (and what your plan will be if things go pear shaped), you can generate some very nice returns.

I agree with you, in that it's best to limit (non-professional) option trading to the speculative portion of your portfolio. Not something you want to bet the farm on.

And to the fellow up above, yeah... how 'bout them MU puts?!

MU, SQ, NFLX, AMD, NVDA and BB have had some good premium action this year.
