Don’t let one or two cause you to think negatively about the entire board. There’s some good answers in the thread too.

Knocking out the debt is an easy choice (now clear what and why it’s in place). As for the bulk of the money, in addition to the younger child’s education fund, building up your retirement should be high on your list.
Speaking with a fee only advisor is not a bad idea at all.

Best of luck to you going forward.

350k seems like a lot of money, but in Louisiana, with two kids, it goes fast if you’re not careful. I’m around the same age, and when I received a similar amount, my main concern was not to do something stupid with it.

I checked Annuity Freedom to see what options there are to protect the money, especially since they have good guides related to Berkshire. It’s important to have a long-term plan, especially since your 6th grader still has a long way to go before college.

In his defense, you did make it extremely difficult to resist responding.

350 is like a Bat Signal on T-D

Good luck moving forward.

Is that amount pre or post attorney fees? And how much of that is taxable?

I would wait for at least a 5% dip to buy. You won’t be waiting long.
