The amount of burglaries at these places is incredible, only surpassed by the absolute lack of give a F by the owners/employees. I'm looking at you Lifelock.

Are you me?

Got a call from Local PD one day telling me my unit was broken into. They didn’t need nursery room stuff, old toys, and old furniture so luckily nothing was taken.

I’m sure you can tell me how concerned Life Storage was about getting around to fixing the door they smashed in.

It should remain strong. Boomers hoard stuff like no other. Millennials like to throw away. I see that contracting bigly in 20 years.

What's the typical monthly rental on a unit?

No such thing…. Ive got a buddy who just rented a unit in NOLA , 5x10 , for $98 per month.. in the past, ive had two units at once in Houston for a total of $250 per month.. if youre looking in Mandeville youre going to see a completely different marker than if youre looking in Atlanta… the genius/diabolical thing that the self storage industry has done is collude so that rates ALWAYS go up every 3 or 4 months.. literally, it all changed at once a few yrs back to where none of the big players will let you ‘lock in’ a rate anymore, which sucks when you are trying to stay within a certain budget, but it’s great if you own a self storage place .

We paid for one of those things for years, not for me, for my wife's crap. I finally convinced her that if you have not needed it for over 2 years, throw it away. A lot of it was "heirloom" china, silver, glassware inherited from dead people. That stuff has no value to anyone, my kids sure don't want it. So we sold what we could and donated the rest.

I inherited a Curio Cabinet that my mom shelled out about $2k for. It really was beautiful. Had it in storage for years. Finally brought it to a furniture liquidator. Appraised for $225. I objected. The liquidator countered with this: How many people do you know today that collect curios?". Sold...

RV/boat storage

General storage appears saturated, but agree on RV/Boat in appropriate locations.
