Is GDAX safe to use?

I was able to register with Coinbase without providing too much personal info. I went to register with GDAX and they want all my personal info, including a front and back copy of my drivers license or ID card. This pretty much goes against everyone's advice about putting your personal info on the web. Even my investment firms like Vanguard don't require that. Seems really risky to me. What says the MT?

I'm actually wondering what is going on with my GDAX transfer right now. I just transferred 0.5 ETH from GDAX to my Binance ETH Deposit address to test and on GDAX it says my 0.5 ETH was withdrawn successfully and is no longer available.
However I have not seen the transaction come through on Binance yet and I do not see the transfer in the blockchain either when I searched my Binance ETH wallet address.
Is it just delayed or should it at least be showing that its confirming? Its been 15 minutes and I havent experienced this issue with transfer confirmations before...
Deposits History in Binance still does not show the transaction en route.
ETA: But I really think its just the massive volume on Binance right now though. Fingers crossed at least.

Took 1.5 hours for my ETH transfer to go through yesterday.

Yeah I overreacted, its not lost.
I went back to Coinbase and noticed the huge banner at the top saying withdrawals are delayed at the moment. Thats all it is Im sure.
