State Farm, All State, Eagan, Hartwig Moss...

So basically insurance agencies have to go throw LA Citizens to get wind/hail?

Honestly home owners insurance seems pointless without flood/wind.

Got any more suggestions? Or are you an insurance agent in Nola?

Eagan and Hartwig both offered their best policies through The Republic Group.

This a good or bad thing?

Appreciate the help man!!

I plan on getting flood but I need a damn elevation certificate

Not bad by any means, what was the coverages, price, wind deductible?

Republic is fine. Eagen is fine too.

I would just call them for answers to your questions. They should take care of you.

Through Eagan I got a 62k dwelling 35K personal 300k liability, 1k deductable for $790

State Farm right now has the lowest and quoted me $388 for 100K dwelling, 15K personal, 100k liability with a 1k deductable but this doesnt include wind. With wind through citizens they are quoting me $600 for the same coverage.

These policies are definitely more than I budgeted for, I need to check on the elevation certificate. They said the last one got lost at the agents office during the storm or something stupid like that. I'm on the 1st floor.

But after talking with the property manager, the condo's flood policy apparently covers everything except your moveables? Is this often the case?

your pricing with those two doesn't look too bad. typically state farm will always be very competitive on a condo policy and extremely cheap for renters.
The only thing you lose with state farm is being with LA Citizens on the wind and the fact that they don't have multiple markets like an independent agent in case you were to be "dropped" for some reason.

yes

the condo complex's flood policy should cover all things permanent to the condo, but you would need flood coverage for your personal contents.

compared to the condo assn's "studs and out" property policy where you are responsible for everything walls and in. Hence you need building coverage.

but also ask yourself, how much flood building coverage they have and how far is that being spread about your condo. Not sure about your building type/size/units.

After looking into it does cover everything except moveables in the dwelling- which is great because I thought I was having to insure studs in on flood.

As you said as contrasted to regular policy where its studs out.

I think I'm going to go with Eagan if I can get this damn lady to call me back about it covering wind/hail.

Thanks to Chad too. If yall ever need investment/stock advice, holler...Medical questions, give me about 10 years or so to get back with you

I got the number, and its above 1 million so with a 15% share, I should be good with a 50k policy to cover the rest should a total loss occur...so I hope. I need to check in to "betterment" too

Another thing to watch out for is companies that write policies which include wind/hail, but has a 5% deductible tiddlywink. No thank you!

in greenheads case, he'll have a % deductible likely but he needs to find out what the "minimum" wind and hail deductible is too since his dwelling value is on lower side.
