5.3 will be most common but the 4.8 is good. The 6.0 is too but a gas hog. I have no experience with the 4.3 V6.

Very good trucks and parts are plentiful and cheap. Very easy to fix.

Are you trying to get a FWD?

You can be in a decent 2wd for $5-8K in most areas. I'd try to be around 100-120k on mileage.

My first vehicle was an 05 Silverado Z71 that I bought with 174k on it and sold with 293k, still going strong.

Insurance is cheap too.
