old school ACH is 2-3 days normally but a lot of banks now have RTP or same day ACH. RTP transfers are instant. I can move money between 2 banks that use RTP and it shows up within seconds.
I've been trying to balance the service you get with local banks and the tech you get with national banks/investment firms that offer banking. I have moved away from regional banks lately where I feel the service is way below local bank level and the tech is way below big bank level.

I like how they can take it instantly but takes a week to transfer from one place to another. Seems fricky

If I can help it, I "push" the transfer to instead of "pulling" it from the receiving bank. This seems to cut down the time.

Everything a bank does is fricky. We often grow up viewing banks as a place to save your money and a safe place to put it. Never really considering they're a business making money off you. In fact, about everything gives the appearance of them servicing you, but as soon as that money hits them, they're making it work.
