FAFSA & Pell Grant question

I was in the military and separated in early Nov 2010. I now go to school full time again, have a little part time income, and get some federal financial aid to make up any differences.
My question is about Pell Grants. I just refiled my FAFSA for 2011-2012 which uses my tax info from 2010. That info is for when I had a full time job and worked nearly all year; I no longer have this income. How is this accounted for in aid calculations? Will it just be awarded retroactively when I file my FAFSA 2012-2013 and they realize I was poor for this whole year? Or is there a process by which I can resubmit information mid-year?

I think you are just going to have to wait until 2012 when you can show little to no income.
I did this (although it was 20 years ago), and got a PELL grant the following year. Not sure if anything has changed since then.
You should still have the Army College Fund (if you were in the Army) or GI bill to pay for monthly expenses?

You will have to wait until 2012. Good luck with the PELL grant...(same amount as TOPS)

Can you get TOPS & a pell grant? I have a friend who got her SARs in today for her twin girls. Ugh. She's a single parent and I was surprised at how the amount they were going to get through a pell grant. Like $1100 per year.

Yes. I did.
Also, 3rd and 4th year if you are in a science, math, or similar major, you can be eligible for the National SMART grant as well.
ETA: Also 1st and 2nd years, look into the Academic Competitiveness Grant as well.

I did as well my junior and senior after my parents stopped claiming me as a dependent.
