Encompass Insurance Experience

I am moving from Louisiana to Texas and looking for home owners insurance. I currently use USAA for home and auto, but they were surprisingly high for my home. Encompass -- AM Best A+ Superior -- beats USAA rates by half. An independent agent tells me that Encompass is a wonderful company with seamless claims process backed by All State. If I bundle home and auto I will save like over $2500 per year versus USAA, but it almost seems too good to be true.
Does the TD MB have any experience with this company or heard anything about them?

"You get what you pay for."
"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."
Personally, I've never heard of that company and that would worry me, especially if they are that much cheaper. (Probably a garbage policy.)

They are a company owned by Allstate and cater to higher end clients/ homes. I know about 5 years ago their coverage was very good, but I have not had any updates lately to know how their claims handling is today.

There coverage was great, according to the declarations page. Furthermore, I understand they are back by Allstate. The basis of my question was really with regards to claims processing and actual payout of claims and whether they used any shady practices to lower pay outs.

They are an Allstate company. They wrote in Louisiana pre-Katrina but pulled out. I wouldn't hesitate going with them over USAA if it's a better deal.

I had a friend that used to work handle cat claims for them when he said they would bend over backward to find coverage, but it has been about 5 years since he did any work for them. I don't know if anything has changed or not.

I had them for a 12 month term last year for auto/home/umbrella. Wife had 2 auto claims back to back in that 12 months. First was for hitting a deer and the second was for backing into a geek squad van parked across from our driveway. Claims process was simple and straightforward with no issues. Renewal rates were not competitive but with that much claim activity it's understandable. I would use them again if rates were reasonable.

Thanks! This is exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for!
