Dang. I didn't get that offer. I did rack up on referrals though. 10k point referral bonus up to 50k.

I thought the same thing. My wife told me he's coming with us on most of our trips.

Damn, what's going on here? Thread was buried

I was coming to thank Teddy for bringing up the $750 per month offer from US Air. I had just gotten the card late last month and didn't receive this offer either. I called just now and she said I was eligible, just some error for why I didn't get the mailer.

Call them, you'll probably get it. I just did. Already spent the $750 this month. 2 more to go and I'll have 70,000 miles in 3 months

Thanks, Teddy

Yeah, I'm actually looking at buying the condo I've been renting so I will probably regret just opening up that card a few weeks ago, but I don't think it hurts that much. We'll see..

I am a failure. I just paid $1.04 in interest. First time I've paid CC interest since I was in college.

Whoa. Page 6.

Anywho, just something to consider that I just learned doing an award booking. *ETA: Disregard this. Well within the published rules.

I was able to get two open jaws on the award ticket. Maybe it's not technically two/maybe it's because I have no stopovers or that I go through BKK on the return, but the representative mentioned the open jaws and was surprised it booked so I figure it bears mentioning. I left out my LAX and Tokyo connections.

Ex. MSY -> Bkk
Return -> HKT -> BKK -> ORD

I'll buy ORD to MSY later. I think some nitwit gobbled up Tokyo to IAH business seat before I was able to book both of them. Only a few hours difference but I was trying to avoid Northern airports.

Question regarding the Chase Sapphire Preferred:

I see the current offer is 40,000 signup (essentially $500 travel) with an annual fee waiver for first year.

Do they have a card to which you can downgrade so that your account is not closed? I messed up on this with an Amex Delta card.

They do. You can downgrade to Chase Sapphire.

However, when you do that you can no longer transfer points to Airline or Hotel partners unless you have either a Chase Ink Plus/Bold or unless your SO has Preferred/Bold/Ink PLus. You can ALWAYS transfer Chase Points to your SO (married/fiancee/domestic partner) regardless of the premium level of your own CCs.

So a long term strategy would be to have you get the CSP, get bonus, downgrade, have SO then get Preferred in her name. Transfer points from your account to hers, transfer to partners, book. Then downgrade hers if that's what you want to do. This would avoid the fee both times.

I relooked at the routing rules and it was always 2 open jaws for united (I knew that!). Wonder why she was so weird about it.

Yo!

I'd probably say the Target loadable card nicknamed Redbird.

If you're in an area to take advantage of it, it's good.

Besides that, just working the deals as usual. 5x Grocery stores on Freedom right now. Don't think anything too earth shattering.

Paging Shonuff, paging Shonuff

Looking for some tipa/advice/musings

I've booked the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok over the Royal Orchid.

Le Meredien Angkor

Going paid route for Thai island.
My favorite for a while has been Ko Yao Noi. Seems less developed but supposedly water not as turquoise. Looks fine in pictures and can island hop to Koh Hong, Pak Bia, etc. Any experience in this area of the bay?

Have 5 days at an island so there has been some consideration of Ko Lanta for bluer waters.

Thoughts? Thanks very much in advance.

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit

Check out Above 11 at the end of sukhumvit soi 11. Awesome skyline views. One Skytrain stop or a $3USD cab ride. Make reservations for 2 top on glass for 6 PM to watch the sunset. Reasonable prices and good food.

Soi 34 is 2 stops and has lots of street food if you're up for it.

Also only one more day for 40% transfer bonus to British Airways from AMEX. Just turned my 75k point bonus plus min spend in to almost 120k Avios on one card(Amex Biz gold). Not too shabby.

Did you see the Avios devalue coming up on April 28th? Doesn't look like it affects me much which is good considering I have over 280,000 of them.

I did and it actually worked in my favor as it reduced the level 6 reward by 7.5k points. My three options(minimizing fuel charges) for my Amex reward points were flying Swiss air on Aeroplan, Aer Lingus with Avios, or Iberia with Avios.

115k Points for 2 business class seats from Nola to Madrid on Iberia Air with about $90/ticket in fuel charges(MSY-MIA-MAD).

2 Segments:
Band 2(MSY-MIA)
Band 6(MIA-MAD)

Soft product hasn't gotten rave reviews, but the hard product has and it's a 9 hour red eye, so after meal service I'll be sleeping anyways.
