I went through it real quick. Not sure about this 9 digit thing. Damnit . I'll find out tomorrow.
I'll give you the highlights.
When feeding Kate for BB/Serve, after you swipe the GC it will obviously ask for the PIN. Some Kates for reasons unknown, will prompt you for the PIN again after you already typed in four digits, but this time, there will be 9 dashes/blanks. There is no work around.
If your Kate works, you'll end up at the next screen etc. Also, if you are paranoid, bring some earphones to plug into the Kate. She can be kinda loud "$500 DOLLARS!" she says. Hearing that 4 times in 10 minutes makes me jumpy. Also, you can't load too fast, I think the max velocity is $2,000 ever 10 minutes approx.

Attention fans of Avios. American Express has a 40% bonus for transfers to Avios from now until 1/31/15. Avios are an extremely versatile currency for using for AA flights. The great news is that they don't expire as long as you follow the rules below.
quote:
Your Avios stay with you as long as you collect, spend, purchase or share at least one Avios every 36 months — any longer and your Avios will expire and be removed, so remember to take action before those three years are up.

Sorry for what I'm sure is a question that has been discussed before, but which American Express card do ya'll suggest. I want to get one again just to use for my COSTCO gas and grocery purchases.
I had the Hilton one a few years ago and the bonus is nice.
So now I'm trying to decided between the Hilton again, Delta, or the Costco American Express. I've heard the Delta points aren't near as valuable as they used to be.
Kind of leaning toward the Costco card with the 3% cash back on gas.
Not sure though because it offers no bonus.

With the DL Amex (gold) you will earn 1 mile per $ spent. The signup bonus was around 50K miles a few months back with the first years fee waived. The other tangible benefits would be the zone 1 boarding and free checked bags.
Look at the DL award chart to see how far your miles will go on award travel. If you are paying with miles, 50k miles would be $500.
Hope that helps make your decision for ya. The platinum and reserve cards hold more benefits with a higher annual fee.

I hear the Delta is good if you fly with Delta often. If you don't, I would tell you to grab the SPG Amex in a heartbeat. It works with every airline and almost all of them on a 1:1 basis (except those pricks at United).
It also gives you great hotel access with Starwood. The fee is free 1st year and only $65 after that which is cheap for an Amex with all the Amex privileges.
If you do sign up for the SPG, I'd love to give you the referral as I'd get 5,000 points. No worries if not, it's still the card I'd recommend.

I still haven't done the US Air card yet, we're positive that will switch to normal AA miles, correct?
I guess I need to do it before Jan?

Ya, 2nd quarter 2015 they will merge.
Before January was the deadline I recall

I may have to get the SPG card next go around. The Platinum Business gives me automatic SPG Gold status.
I might be coming to an end for a while for the app-o-rama stuff. It looks like we'll be purchasing another property in the next 18-24 months.

Yeah, I may be purchasing another myself and that's why I hadn't done it yet. But I'd hate to not get an easy 30k or whatever it is AA miles. Decisions, decisions
Oh and thanks, Teddy
Eta: Damn, make that 50k miles being offered right now.

Talked myself into it and got instant approval
I think I may tell my wife to go ahead and do it too.

Yup. Easy peasy 100k miles with only 3k spend on the AA card, one purchase on US Airways, and $89. Can't beat it.
Oh and a hint. Buy one thing, say it's $5.23.
Send a payment to Barclay's from your bank for $94.23 ($89 fee + $5.23). You will get your us miles on the first statement.

Be careful, You may not be eligible for the Hilton signup bonus because you've had the card before

is there currently an AA offer for 100k?
Posted on 12/16/14 at 1:10 pm to Teddy Ruxpin
Just got approved for Us air MC today with 15k limit. How long should I wait until I request the AA card. 30, 90 days? Should give me about 140k AA miles once merge goes through. I've got about 125k delta miles.... Hopefully wife and I will be able to take a few good trips

You probably don't have to wait at all.

Cool, Wasn't sure about credit pulls.
Side note, I opened a sky miles account for my 2 year old. He'll earn his first points in 2 weeks. 3 or so flights a year ought to get him a good base once he is 18

You have to remember airlines can devalue their miles faster than the Russian central bank can devalue roubles

True but he might as well be earning miles for all his flights. Better than nothing I figured
