Too scared to post. I did post on a couple new Orleans threads where some stupid hippies were thinking it was cool to hang out in hood rat places they saw on HBO's Treme.
But in case I start posting more it's pretty obvious who I am

I stay away from that site. Everyone there is on the eccentric side. A disappointment becomes a monumental catastrophe to them.

I guess that's one way to look at it. Amex Gold isn't a credit card it's a charge card. Which means you have to pay it off in full each billing cycle. There are stiff penalties if you don't do this.

This post made me call AMEX and discover I was under a significantly different impression of the card's perks. While still great, I almost made a huge mistake by making an insurmountable purchase in too short a period of time. Disaster avoided, however. Thanks @BACON!!!!

I wonder how many people get in big trouble because of this. I'm sure you are not alone.
Yay, I can buy ____ with my card! Bill comes in and they're f'd...

No doubt. The sales guy kept pumping the good things about it that I didn't recognize the fine print and how this is different than a regular credit card. It work much differently. Thankfully, I was able to cancel those purchases so I can pay it off on time. Definitely a crisis avoided in my case.

My posting on Flyertalk is generally asking questions or answering what retention offer I was offered. I don't have near enough knowledge to post over there... But I try to soak up as much information as possible because those folks know their stuff

They have an extended payment option now, never used it but I have seen the ads for it.
Regardless, it is made pretty clear the card has to be paid off in full when you sign up for it, or at least it was to me

Have you ever read the "trick-it thread"?
Jeez. I wish I would've gotten in at the beginning of that.

You get that option typically after 6-8 months of on time payments. At least in my case. And it's limited to travel expenses IIRC

No doubt. I was able to return about $1,900 of items. I just have to learn this 60-day cycle. Just a new way of thinking.

I just googled this. It appears to be somewhat famous.
How about you cliff note it for me? No? Son of a...
Is it even still applicable before I waste my time reading it?
ETA: I'm catching on, but I'm gonna stop here until I get an affirmation

I've never heard of this before but I am going to read about it now? Any notes before I start?

From what I gather, it's still applicable but on a much smaller scale as the airlines have closed some of the easier loopholes that were prevalent in the past.
What I have found that is real is the fuel dumping on return flights. I played around for a little while trying to figure that out and I did find a few instances where you could save several hundred dollars on international flights.
The coding they have adapted is pretty funny and it took me some time to even get a small grasp on it(still a long way to go).
After getting a basic understanding, I realized that it's frickin pointless for me as I have so many damn points that I shouldn't have to pay for an international flight any time soon(even if they are heavily discounted), so what the hell am I reading all this for?

I spent some time a while back reading that thread, the ultimate goal is saving money on international flights by abusing fuel dumps and often times missing the 3rd or 4th legs of flights. The codes are in place so that when people google "LAX to BRU deals" etc etc it doesn't easily show up.

Actually have not. I really wasn't even looking at gas stations for them. I was just standing in line while buying beer and noticed them, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Success. So, I stopped at another one on the way home and it worked again.
