It's extremely rare to get room upgrades even for good or platinum these days.
The credit card certificates etc using the points cap makes it only viable in less traveled places. But can be useful

Yep, ditto for us with the Walmart card and the Amazon Prime card. Also have been using Citibank and Wells Fargo for most everything else for a flat 2%. Just recently also got a Southwest rewards card for the free checked bag.

We recently got an upgrade to a Club Level room at a Ritz using the platinum. Guess we got lucky. It was a one night stay, which may have helped.

I got 65k united miles, Seems like their rewards program has changed lately. You can only use them for flights(cash + points) now. Any way to get rid of them?

For those that fly American, but can justify the travel card, this one seem to check a lot of boxes for earning AA miles.
For those with an $99 Red AA Card from Barclays, the transfer to Citi is happening next month. There’s still time to take advantage of the in-flight Citi offer for their version, 80,000 miles for $1k in spending In 3 months, no fee the first year. No need to be on a flight, the link is available all over the internet and apparently any 6 digit code works. If you have the Barclays Silver AA card, that’s being changed to the Citi AA Globe, but the Barclays card’s $199 fee is being grandfathered for now vs the $350 fee for the Citi version.

With baggage fees going up across the board the co-branded cards if they stick at their current fee structure will be more attractive
